Marrakech is the obvious choice for a company trip to Morocco — and that is exactly why many teams now prefer Essaouira. The town is calmer, the air is fresh, everything is within walking distance and the setting invites people to talk rather than rush. For a corporate seminar in Essaouira, you get meeting rooms with ocean views, riads you can privatise and team activities that people remember for years.
Here is how to organise it, from venue to transport.
Why a corporate seminar in Essaouira works
- Easy to reach: 2 h 30 by road from Marrakech airport, 20 minutes from Essaouira-Mogador airport.
- A pleasant climate all year: rarely too hot in summer thanks to the trade winds, mild in winter.
- Compact: once there, the medina, the beach and the restaurants are on foot — no daily traffic jams.
- Character: ramparts, music, crafts and the ocean give a strong identity to your event.
Choosing a venue
| Type of venue | Best for | Good to know |
|---|---|---|
| Beachfront hotels | 30–200 people | Meeting rooms, accommodation and catering under one roof |
| Diabat golf resort area | Executive retreats, golf | Calm, a few minutes south of town |
| Privatised riad | 10–30 people | Intimate, workshops in the patio, dinner on the roof |
| Country guesthouse (Ghazoua, argan countryside) | Strategy days, wellbeing | Space and silence, transport needed for town |

Team-building ideas that work in Essaouira
- Surf or kitesurf initiation in the bay with certified schools — great for energy and laughs (see our surf and kitesurf guide).
- A private picnic on a wild beach or among the argan trees: our private picnic excursion can be adapted for groups.
- Argan cooperative visit to meet the women who make argan oil — read about the argan cooperative visit.
- A treasure hunt in the medina, built around the Skala, the port and the souks.
- Horse or camel rides on the beach at sunset.
- A Gnawa music evening or a cooking workshop to end the day together.

A sample three-day programme
- Day 1 — Pick-up at Marrakech airport, road to Essaouira with a stop at an argan cooperative, check-in, welcome dinner on a rooftop.
- Day 2 — Morning workshops; afternoon team activity (surf initiation or private picnic); sunset on the ramparts; dinner with live Gnawa music.
- Day 3 — Morning session and wrap-up; free time in the medina; transfer back to Marrakech for the evening flights.
The half-day excursion along the argan route and coast is an easy add-on for a fourth day.
Budgeting the transport
Our prices are per vehicle, which makes group budgets simple. At the time of writing, from Marrakech to Essaouira: €120 for a van (four to seven people) and €170 for a minibus (up to seventeen). A team of 30 therefore travels in two minibuses for €340 each way. From Essaouira-Mogador airport, a minibus costs €50 to the city. See the full price list and our vehicles.
During the seminar we can provide shuttles between hotels, venues and activities, and premium sedans for executives and speakers. Read more in our guide to group transport in Essaouira.
Seminar budget: what to plan for
A corporate seminar in Essaouira usually costs less than the same event in Marrakech, but the budget has the same main lines:
- Venue and rooms: meeting room hire, technical equipment and coffee breaks; often packaged by hotels per delegate per day.
- Accommodation: hotels and privatised riads; prices rise during festivals and school holidays.
- Meals: lunches near the venue, one or two special dinners (a rooftop, a Gnawa evening).
- Activities: surf initiation, picnic, cooperative visit — usually priced per group.
- Transport: airport transfers, daily shuttles and excursions, which we price per vehicle, not per person.
Ask each supplier what is included, and keep a margin for the unexpected. For transport, we send one fixed-price proposal covering every journey of the seminar.
Our tip: schedule the team activity on the afternoon of day 2, after the main working session — energy is at its highest, and the sunset on the ramparts makes the perfect end to the day before dinner together.
Good to know: most beachfront hotels can host plenary sessions and smaller workshop rooms under one roof.
Organiser's checklist
- Book venues and rooms 4–6 months ahead, more for high season.
- Avoid the Gnaoua festival weekend in June unless it is part of the plan.
- Plan outdoor activities for the morning between April and September, when afternoons are windy.
- Collect flight numbers early so we can group airport pick-ups.
- Ask for dietary requirements for dinners and picnics.
Send us your dates, group size and airports via our contact page and we will build the transport plan for your seminar — arrivals, shuttles and returns — at a fixed price.
