Essaouira is no longer just a weekend escape, and business events in Essaouira are growing fast. In recent years the town has hosted international conferences, scientific congresses and professional forums — drawn by its compact size, its heritage venues, its mild climate and a cultural brand few destinations can match. In 2026 it was chosen to host the annual conference of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network, the first city in Africa and the Arab world to do so.
This guide is for organisers, delegates and companies: what is on the professional calendar, where events take place and how to move people efficiently — which, in a town with a pedestrian medina and several gateway airports, is half the job.

Many professional events in Essaouira are announced only a few months ahead. If you are planning your own conference, check the Essaouira events calendar to avoid — or deliberately coincide with — the big festival weekends.
Where business events in Essaouira take place
- Large hotels on the beachfront and in the Diabat golf area offer meeting rooms, plenary halls for a few hundred people, accommodation on site and gala dinners.
- Heritage and cultural venues such as Dar Souiri and Bayt Dakira host forums and talks with real character (read our Dar Souiri guide).
- Riads and guesthouses can be privatised for boards, retreats and small leadership meetings.
- Outdoor venues — a beach, an argan grove, a garden — work beautifully for receptions, with a plan B for the wind.

Getting delegates to Essaouira
| Gateway | Distance to Essaouira | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Essaouira-Mogador (ESU) | about 20 min | Few direct flights from Europe; quickest arrival |
| Marrakech Menara (RAK) | about 2 h 30 | Most flights, best for international delegations |
| Agadir Al Massira (AGA) | about 2 h 30 | Coast road via Imsouane and Tamri |
| Casablanca Mohammed V (CMN) | about 4 h | Hub for long-haul flights |
Our fixed prices per vehicle make budgeting easy: from €20 from Essaouira airport to the city, €100 from Marrakech for up to three passengers, €120 in a van for four to seven and €170 in a minibus for up to seventeen (at the time of writing — see the full price list). For departures, the Essaouira to Casablanca airport transfer and the Essaouira to Marrakech transfer cover the long-haul gateways.

Delegate transport: how we organise it
- Arrivals list: send us names, flight numbers and hotels; we group arrivals by time and airport.
- Meet and greet: drivers wait at arrivals with a name sign or your event logo, follow each flight and wait free for 60 minutes after landing.
- Shuttles during the event: minibuses between hotels, venues and dinner locations, on your timetable.
- VIP cars: premium sedans for speakers and guests of honour.
- One contact on WhatsApp throughout the event, and invoices on request.
Our guide to group transport in Essaouira explains vehicles and capacities, and our vehicles page shows the fleet.
A sample two-day delegate programme
- Day 1 — Arrivals at Marrakech and Essaouira airports, grouped transfers to the hotels; welcome cocktail on a terrace facing the ocean; dinner with a Gnawa ensemble.
- Day 2 — Plenary sessions in the morning; lunch by the sea; workshops in smaller rooms or in a heritage venue; sunset on the ramparts; free evening in the medina.
- Departure day — Optional half-day excursion along the argan route, then group transfers timed to each flight.
This rhythm — work in the morning, Essaouira in the afternoon — is what makes delegates remember the event.
Planning tips for organisers
- Book 6–12 months ahead for events over 100 people; hotel capacity in Essaouira is limited.
- Watch the festival dates: the Gnaoua weekend in June fills every room in town.
- Think about the wind: from April to September afternoons are windy, so plan outdoor moments for the morning or in sheltered gardens.
- Add a cultural moment: a Gnawa concert, a sunset on the ramparts or a private picnic excursion (our private picnic) leaves delegates with a memory of the place.
