Travelling with children changes the arithmetic of arriving anywhere. A delay that a couple would shrug off becomes a meltdown at passport control; a taxi negotiation becomes impossible with a toddler on your hip. The good news is that Marrakech is a wonderful city for families, and the airport is only twenty minutes from the medina. Get the Marrakech airport transfer with kids right, and the rest of the first day tends to take care of itself.

Choosing the right vehicle for a family
Our vehicles come in four sizes, and the right one depends as much on your luggage as on the number of people:

At the time of writing, our Marrakech airport transfer costs €20 for a sedan or SUV, €30 for a van and €50 for a minibus — per vehicle, not per person. Car seats and boosters
Tell us the ages of your children when you book so we can plan the right vehicle and let you know what we can arrange. If your child needs a specific seat — an infant carrier or a particular booster — bringing your own is the most reliable option, and many airlines carry car seats without charge (check your airline's rules before you fly). Whatever you decide, mention it in the booking, not at the kerb.
Luggage, strollers and the medina
A lightweight folding stroller works well in Guéliz, Hivernage and the gardens. In the medina it is a different story: lanes are narrow, uneven and busy with scooters and hand carts. Many parents swap to a baby carrier for the old town and keep the stroller for the new town.
When you arrive at a medina riad, the car stops at the nearest gate or square. Ask your riad to send someone to help — with children and several bags, an extra pair of hands for the last few hundred metres makes a real difference. Porters with hand carts can also take your luggage for a small, agreed fee.
Choosing a riad with children
Riads are magical, and children love them — but check a few things before booking:
- Plunge pools in the courtyard are common and usually unfenced; young children need constant supervision.
- Rooftop terraces and steep stairs are part of the charm, and part of the risk with toddlers.
- Family rooms or connecting rooms are not always available in small riads; ask directly.
- Some riads do not accept young children at all, so confirm before you pay.
If your children are very young, a hotel with a garden in the Palmeraie or Hivernage can be the more relaxing choice — and the car drops you right at reception.
A calm first hour: our Marrakech airport transfer with kids checklist
- Send us your flight number and the children's ages when you book.
- Pack snacks for the queue. Passport control can be slow when several flights land together.
- Use the toilets before leaving the terminal. The drive is short, but a riad can take a few minutes to reach on foot.
- Keep a small bag with essentials on top — wipes, a change of clothes, a favourite toy.
- Let the driver load the bags while you look after the children. Water is on board.
Summer arrivals with small children
In July and August, Marrakech regularly passes 40°C in the afternoon. If you can choose, book a flight that lands in the morning or the evening, keep water bottles to hand in the terminal and dress children in light layers. Our cars are air-conditioned, so a Marrakech airport transfer with kids in midsummer is the cool part of the day — the walk through the lanes to a riad is not. A riad or hotel with a pool makes those first afternoons much easier.
Why Moroccans make it easy
Families are at the heart of Moroccan life, and children are welcomed almost everywhere — in cafés, in shops, in the souks. Do not be surprised if strangers smile at your baby, compliment your children or offer them a sweet. It is meant kindly; a smile and a "shukran" (thank you) is the perfect answer, and you can politely decline the sweets if you prefer.
